The Asingan Sheltered Workshop offers skills training and livelihood activities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), including candle-making, eco-bag crafting, digital printing, and food processing. The two-story building, which opened in November 2023, also showcases its products, such as mango vinegar, boneless and tinapang bangus, doormats, pots, and accessories.
Currently, there are 1,269 registered PWD members in Asingan, who benefit from the municipality’s various programs.
The municipality’s commitment to PWD welfare earned it the Apolinario Mabini Award for Best Local Government Unit, recognizing its inclusive programs and efforts to empower individuals. The workshop, backed by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), is a vital part of Asingan’s disability inclusion initiatives.
Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. promises to continue programs that empower individuals, create opportunities, and provide equal services for everyone, regardless of their situation.
