Content: A proposed ordinance granting incentives and formal recognition to athletes representing the Municipality of Asingan was presented before the Sangguniang Bayan by Christopher Jerome Lavarias, Designate Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO). The proposal originated from a letter by Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. dated March 4, 2026.

The ordinance seeks to provide cash incentives to individuals who represent Asingan in provincial, regional, national, and international competitions. Proposed incentive amounts range from ₱1,000 to ₱25,000, scaled according to the level of competition and achievement. The measure also allows recognition and incentives to extend beyond sports to include cultural, musical, arts, and academic competitions where residents represent the municipality.

Proponents said the ordinance aims to motivate and support local talent, encourage wider participation in competitive events, and formally acknowledge the achievements of Asingan’s representatives. The proposal will undergo further deliberation and consultation with relevant stakeholders before finalization and possible adoption by the Sangguniang Bayan.
