Asinganians celebrated the Oral Health month with free dental health services, feeding & gift giving.
The Local Government Unit of Asingan, headed by Mayor Heidee Chua through our Rural Health Unit (RHU) joins the nation in observance of the Oral / Dental Health Month 2017.
Activities include feeding & gift giving personally sponsored by Mayor Chua, free dental services, oral prophylaxis/fluoride or cleaning of teeth among 3-5 years old pupils.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Ngiping Inaalagaan at Pinagyaman, Hatid ay Ngiting ‘di Kukupas Kailanman.”
Dra. Aurelia Velasco, municipal dentist, together with Dr. Geraldine Manalastas, ACH Public Health Dentist, with led the activities in relation to the annual celebration.
The observance aims to strengthen public awareness on the importance of the good oral health. It encourages dentists, students, relevant government agencies, and professional organizations to reach out to more people with no access to dental services, especially those who are in the countryside.
This annual observance started in 1951 as National Dental Health Week but in February 24, 2004, it was expanded into a month-long celebration, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
